Volunteers have always been integral to the work of Education for Development. EFD was founded by volunteers in 1996 and they continue to make an important contribution to our work.
In the last five years, EFD has benefited from volunteers from all corners of the world. If you have an interest in providing fair and equal access to education for children in Vietnam, volunteer opportunities are available in the following countries: Belgium, The Netherlands, and Vietnam.

Mai Kim Khanh - Office based volunteer
In 2008, being a sophomore at International Relations, I oriented myself to find a part time job in order to gain some practical workplace experience. My life was drastically changed when I found out about EFD. I was completely convinced by EFD projects and their aim to educate disadvantaged children. Children in all circumstances need supportive educational conditions to develop well. Fortunately, I was given the opportunity to join EFD in October 2008 to give a hand to creating a better study environment for the disadvantaged. I always believe that working brings great value, however not only values such as material possessions but also contributes to the community. Thank you to EFD for giving me a great friendly working place with many precious experiences in life. Furthermore, for also giving me a chance to devote my youth to my country. |

Nguyen Ngoc Le - Online volunteer
Le is among the earliest volunteer with EFD since 2001. He came to EFD with a heart-felt desire to do something towards the betterness of disadvantaged children whose plight has saddened him. Having graduated from the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, he has applied his major in English (sometimes French) to translating, editing (occasionally interpreting) for EFD. He currently works in the TV Programming industry. |

Nguyen Minh Tam - Online volunteer
I started my volunteer role at EFD when I was graduating from Foreign Trade University in 2005. Translating is my usual task but recently; I have also been involved in looking for potential contacts for EFD's fund-raising activities. For me, doing - giving - contributing to communities returns me in different ways, because I can learn new values in life and look at things in different perspectives from my exposure to voluntary activities. That’s the reason why I keep contributing voluntarily at EFD in the coming time. |

Mai Tung - Online volunteer
Hi there! Let me start this introduction by telling you a story! This is a fairy-tale called EFD.
One day, you drop by a gate named EFD on the way to discover the surrounding world. You become curious, and unlock to this gate. A whole new world opens to welcome you with its colorful, friendly arms. You feel excited. You turn into it. You walk through this world, and start discovering it as a 3 year old child often does. You see a stone turtle on your way; but, in fact, it doesn't have anything attracting you at all. In other words, it's totally boring, so that you pass it by to discover many other interesting things waiting for you inside this world. Then, when your legs get tired, you come back to the turtle, sit down, and try to balance yourself. You tell the turtle about everything you have met in your life as if you are talking to yourself. Suddenly, the turtle start talking to you. You get a bit shocked because this is the first time you hear a stone turtle talking. You try to calm down to continue the conversation; and, finally, you realize that you have got a friend.
