MAS: Management and Advisory Service

Through the MAS program EFD provides hands on (individual) support/advise in the areas of management to local organizations.  

The support provided through EFD’s MAS Program focuses on the following areas: Human Resources, Project Management, Finance/ accounting, Strategic development, Fundraising and PR, and General Management. These areas have been defined after a needs assessment involving over 40 LSOs.

EFD works closely with the managers of the LSOs to identify the areas of support needed. EFD will then provide mentoring/coaching support to these managers to build their skills and experience in these areas. The key element of the MAS program is that EFD works directly with the responsible persons of the LSO to focus on the management areas relevant to their organization. In this way the focus is on increasing the sustainability of the LSOs.
Part of EFD’s MAS Program involves linking LSO’s to Corporate Organizations. EFD provides staff of these organizations with opportunities to dedicate time and skills to contribute to improving the management of LSOs. Interested? Send an email to admin@educationfordevelopment.org 

A recent example of a project under EFDs MAS Program:

In 2010 EFD is supporting the Hoang Tam Sewing Center (HTSC). HTSC was set up in 2003 and is offering vocational sewing training and shelter to disadvantaged and disabled youth aged between 16 and 25. The Center currently provides training to 30 students. Based on an extensive needs assessment, EFD has developed a plan to support HTSC in the areas of General Management, Accounting, Human Resources and (social) Business Administration. EFD, together with its corporate partners, will provide face-to-face support to the two managers of the Center. Basic procedures and tools will be put in place with a focus on developing the skills and knowledge of the managers to implement these tools. This project is supported by EFDs partner Child At Venture (CAV).
